Equal Opportunity & Age Discrimination Policy
Age Discrimination Policy
It is MGMS International’s policy not to discriminate against any person on the basis of that person’s age.
MGMS International strives at all times to work within the legislative requirements and to promote best practice.
The principle of non-discrimination and equality of opportunity applies equally to the treatment of visitors, clients, customers and suppliers as well as to members of our workforce.
MGMS International acknowledges its duty to treat all persons with dignity at all times and not to discriminate against or harass them on grounds of age. We also acknowledge that we may be held responsible for the acts of individual members of our staff, and therefore we will not tolerate any discriminatory practices or behaviour by any of our employees or agents.
MGMS International understands that discrimination may be direct or indirect and that it may occur intentionally or unintentionally. Direct discrimination occurs where someone is put at a disadvantage on grounds of their age. Indirect discrimination occurs where an individual is subject to an unjustified provision, criterion or practice which puts them at a disadvantage because of their age. Discrimination also includes victimisation (less favourable treatment because of action taken to assert legal rights against discrimination or to assist a colleague in that regard) and harassment.
Selection Criteria
In providing search and selection services to its clients, MGMS International strives to ensure that no candidate or potential candidate receives less favourable treatment on grounds of their age. Recruitment procedures are designed to ensure that individuals are treated on the basis of their relevant merits and abilities and that sufficiently diverse sectors of the community are reached.
Age, age-related criteria or age ranges are not used in advertisements.
Interviewers and those concerned with selection are trained so as to be objective, and to ensure that their decisions are based on objective criteria, relevant to the job and merit.
An individual’s age will not be used to make judgements about their abilities or fitness. Where such a judgement is required, we recommend that an occupational health or medical practitioner be consulted.
MGMS International is committed to the removal of age discrimination in our business and within those clients we serve, because it is wasteful of talent and harmful to both individuals and organisations. The use of age, age bands and age-related criteria reduces objectivity in employment decision-making and increases the likelihood of inappropriate decisions.
MGMS International will only look at the efficient and effective use of people’s skills so that decisions are based on competencies, qualifications, skills, potential and objective job-related criteria obtained through careful analysis of job requirements and job performance.
In pursuance of these goals, MGMS International is committed to a programme of training for its staff and workers not only for age discrimination but in relation to all forms of discrimination.
Equal Opportunity Policy
MGMS International is committed to the principle of Equal Opportunities. As an employer, we conduct personnel and training policies which apply fair and non-discriminatory practices to all processes.
As an employee of MGMS International we strive never to discriminate against any person whether they are an employee, client / potential client or candidate on the grounds of sex, age, marital status, ethnic origin, colour, nationality or any disability.
We have a responsibility to ensure that not only our behaviour but that of others is not discriminatory in any way. If we become aware of any discriminatory behaviour or practice which breaches the Company’s policy on Equal Opportunities, or is in breach of equal opportunities legislation, they will immediately inform our HR Department or Senior Director who will then decide on the appropriate further action that is required. Any employee found to be acting in breach of the Company policy will be subject to the Company’s disciplinary procedures following a thorough investigation.
If you feel you have been discriminated against, you may use our Company’s standard grievance procedure and you will not be penalised for raising such a grievance in any way.
MGMS International is committed to providing clients with the best possible short lists which are:
- Fulfil objective selection criteria agreed at the outset of each assignment.
- Are consistently applied to every candidate in the process.
- Conform to all Equal Opportunities legislation and best practices.
All staff are made aware of the provisions and implications of our Equal Opportunities Policy, both from an internal perspective and in all our external recruitment practices.
