Credit Risk Systems and Infrastructure Manager

Our organisation offers a large variety of financial products coupled with a wide range of insurance products. This role plays a key part to our continued expansion plan.

Role Purpose: 

  • The succesfull candidate will ensure we have an appropriate state-of-the-art credit risk systems for both application decisioning and customer management.
  • Ensure that our 3rd party providers have appropriate FTE resource, with efficient cost effective processes and sufficient data and strategy logic to minimise bad debt in current and likely future environment.
  • Direct our organisation in taking key learnings on best practice from 3rd parties in the case of future system or supplier change.
  • Help develop first class relationships with our Credit Reference Agencies and other third party service providers and where necessary provide bespoke processes and strategies which will be implemented to ensure that we operate within the organisations risk appetite.

Key Accountabilities:

Alongside the Head of Credit Risk, construct the strategic direction of our Credit Risk systems functionality (both application and customer management decision systems).

  • Work with various areas to design appropriate application and customer management decisioning systems, leading the continual improvement of Credit Risk systems and performance, including the design of new systems.
  • Provide a solid understanding of the project life cycle, including preparation of business case, requirements gathering process, preparation of detailed requirements documentation through to User Acceptance Testing.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the Credit Risk teams Data Warehouse requirements are fully understood by the DW team, and enhancements are managed appropriately
  • Attend Retail Credit Risk Committee, Change and Delivery Board
  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of systems through comprehensive suite of MI, ensuring delivery of agreed performance to enable the business to meet its financial targets.
  • Build a strong network of contacts within the market to ensure that we understand all of the latest credit risk systems initiatives and understands new product developments within the market place.
  • Lead our relationships with Credit Reference Agencies and other Third Party software/service providers
  • Be responsible for the Credit Reference reporting for our organisation
  • Manage/ implement strategy changes in Credit Risk Decisioning Systems.
  • Build an appropriately resourced and skilled team to ensure that the credit risk systems long term strategy can be delivered plus driving operational agenda of outsourced areas.

Experience:

  • Significant management experience in a relevant financial services environment with a good understanding of retail products and channels.
  • At least 5 years experience in Risk Management
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate successfully with colleagues at all levels up to and including Executive level, and build effective working relationships across the business (internal and external).
  • Well developed report writing and communication skills with the ability to interact at senior levels within the organisation
  • Embraces change, with solid project management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of financial environment with excellent analytical skills and highly numerate.
  • Highly PC literate with a good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications (Word/Excel especially). 
  • Experience with SAS although not essential would be  advantageous
  • An innovative, creative approach to problem solving
